The best way QC was explained to me is this way. Imagine a 10 story building with 10 rooms on each floor. The task is to find which of the 100 rooms this person is hidden in. Modern computers would achieve this task by looking in each room one at a time until it found the right room. A QC would look through all 100 rooms at the same time.
