Rise and Shine

41 Shortly after declaring himself a god, Caligula is assassinated by two Praetorian tribunes.

1458 Matthias Corvinus, the son of John Hunyadi, is elected king of Hungary.

1639 Representatives from three Connecticut towns band together to write the Fundamental Orders, the first constitution in the New World.

1722 Czar Peter the Great caps his reforms in Russia with the "Table of Rank" which decrees a commoner can climb on merit to the highest positions.

1848 Gold is discovered by James Wilson Marshall at his partner Johann August Sutter's sawmill on the South Fork of the American River, near Coloma,California.

1903 U.S. Secretary of State John Hay and British Ambassador Herbert create a joint commission to establish the Alaskan border.

1911 U.S. Cavalry is sent to preserve the neutrality of the Rio Grande during the Mexican Civil War.

1915 The German cruiser Blücher is sunk by a British squadron in the Battle of Dogger Bank.

1927 British expeditionary force of 12,000 is sent to China to protect concessions at Shanghai.

1931 The League of Nations rebukes Poland for the mistreatment of a German minority in Upper Silesia.

Joke of the day: Two elderly gentlemen, who had been without sex for several years, decided they needed to visit a cat-house for some tail. When they arrived, the madam took one look at them and decided she wasn't going to waste any of her girls on these two old men. So she used "blow-up" dolls instead. She put the dolls in each man's room and left them to their business.
After the two men were finished, they started for home and got to talking.
The first man said, "I think the girl I had was dead. She never moved, talked or even groaned... how was it for you?"
The second man replied, "I think mine was a witch."
The first man asked, "How's that?"
"Well," said the second man, "when I nibbled on her breast... she farted and flew out the window!"

Good morning, y'all. Some problems with the baby yesterday. Headed back to the Dr today. If y'all have an extra prayer handy, we sure will take them.

Sorry to hear the little one is sick. Prays sent. Nothing worse then having a young one sick.

Morning people.

Dang daughter talked me into going duck hunting with her this morning. Really not up to it. Thank God it is only 5 minutes from my house to the duck hole and the hunt last less then 5 minutes.

Didn't know. Congrats and pray all is good for y'all.

It's down. Had to take extra Lasix. Had to take a long nap too! They did a reading on my CRT-D yesterday. Not happy and besides I have less then a year left on my battery.

Ugh. At least change outs are minor. You'd much prefer to have it than not. Hope the fluid stays off for a bit and y'all get some ducks.

ETA: And thank you! I'll feel better when we get him here.

Wish it was that easy. Nothing like a 50K operation for a dam battery.
