The Way of Kings is part of a different series. I haven read it yet.

Recommendations based on Brad Thor:

Mitch Rapp series by Vince Flynn. My favorite series of this genre.

Jack Reacher by Lee Child. Second favorite series.

David Baldacci's books. Camel Club series is good. Will Robie series is good.

Scott Mariani has a series featuring Ben Hope. I really like this one and don't hear many talk about it. Hope is a former SAS guy who wanted to be a priest before that. Big crisis of faith stopped that. Now he specializes in recovery of people, usually kidnappings. I love that he's ruthless in dealing with bad guys. He's also an alcoholic which presents some issues that make him a less traditional hero.

Mark Greaney has a shorter series about the Grey Man. Another special forces stud who became an assassin. Now he's on the run from the government that used to employ him and he doesn't know why. Good series with a lot of different locations.

Brad Taylor has a series featuring Pike Logan. He's a very troubled man who's wife and child were killed and he went off the deep end. He was part of a secret black ops organization that hunted terrorists for the President. Series is very good about his redemption with lots of violence along the way. These read quick and I've come to really enjoy them.

Ben Coes writes a series about Dewey Andreas. Former special ops guy.

Mark Dawson's series features John Milton. He's a former British assassin. Also a recovering alcoholic. Now he helps other people to make up for his past. Love this series and he's like a one man A Team that doesn't miss with his bullets.

Daniel Silva has a famous series about Gabriel Allon. Allon is a former Israeli assassin. Really good series with more thought than action. But there is definitely action.

Alex Berenson has a series with John Wells. Wells spent a long time undercover in the Middle East. He's now a Muslim after his time there. Pretty good series with his struggles after being undercover for so long. Don't let the Muslim angle bother you. He's more about the peaceful message than a hard core follower. Books vary between working for the government and doing personal missions.



I know that's a lot of recommendations. I tried to go with some of the series people bring up all the time (Rapp, Reacher) and some less popular series. I really like the Mariani and Dawson books because they center more around helping people and revenge versus being another series about fighting Muslims for the government (which I also love).
