I can handle anything with my son. shite flowing out his diaper, spit up, puke, pee, blood have no affect on me. My wife (no pics) busts out the nose frida and I start gagging. I had to use it one time when my son was stopped up and my wife was out of town and that won't happen again. Next time I'll just hook up my pump for changing oil in the boat.

As soon as you & your wife get his Social Security number, open up a savings account & deposit regularly, even if it's only a few bucks a mth at first. Get in that habit as soon as possible & stick to it. If nursery care will be necessary, start looking now. Average costs here in B.R. for a center where it is 4 babies to one care giver is $800 a mth & climbing. Never too soon to consider schools, as most private ones have a long waiting list. Read up on the laws regarding baby seats in the car, what is mandatory & for how long. In picking a name, do understand that any name that is rhyme friendly, will be turned into the rhyme one. As in Vic the Dick.

Apparently the only thing between the bulb from the hospital and the pump for your boat is the frida. There has to be a better way though.

The hospital grade bulb is more than enough from my experience. The ones you get in Target for example are shite though.

You'll do great. I was worried about becoming a dad. As it turned out, I'm actually pretty good at it.

One thing you'll notice is that you'll worry more about things that you might not have thought about more.

Now when you hear about something bad happening to a child, you'll wanna cry. You'll put yourself and your child in the situation and it'll deeply affect you.

Yeah with saline and enough patience it is fine, but I'd like something with a bit more oomph.

My only advice (as I'm about 4.5 months into this) is to get your kid on a routine asap. It's wonderful for your sleep, sanity, and overall planning out each day.

Golfer is on point. I have a 5 month old and we started implementing a routine almost immediately. By 10 weeks old she was sleeping thru the night from 10-5:30. I highly recommend the book Moms On Call, its written by two pediatric nurses.

As a first time mom the best advice I can say is just be there for your wife. Those first few weeks are so challenging because your body feels broken, you have a little tiny human who relies on you for everything, and the stupid postpartum hormones make you cry at dumb stuff like HGTV shows . My husband was a total rock star to me and our daughter. One thing that I really appreciated was when he'd call me during the day from work just to check in and see how baby and I were doing. The little things really do go a long way.

The love you will feel for that child is like nothing you've ever felt before, your heart will be so full. It's awesome.
