I have two Wienner dogs that take care of my family way better than any pit bull could. But a golden is a fine dog as well.

I’ve had 5 Goldens in my life and yes, they are the greatest dog breed bar none.
I've had Goldens and a GSD, they are totally different characters and love both for different reasons. GSD's are more versatile IMO.
One of my buddies has a Golden that's a SEADOG, which is a search and rescue group. He's pretty amazing. Avalanche rescue, lost hikers, etc. Landslide killed some people just north of here and he's been up there this week looking for the missing.

Shed way too much to be an A+.
Which is why Golden Doodles are so popular right now.

Oh my goodness he’s cute!
My folks just adopted another juvenile Basset. They’ve had six of them. Our Basset is seven.

Just consider it a ten to twelve year expenditure. Makes me feel better. Wish the lived 15 years. Mine is nine.
Wish they lived 80 years. My golden is 4. I care about her more than I care about most people I know

I have two F1 Goldendoodles. I’d put them up against any family dog. Golden look, poodle smarts.

Everyone wants to talk about their cute loveable dogs, what about the annoying muts you wouldn't trade for anything?
Here's our very old and very fat beagle. Don't let the oldness and fatness deceive you, she's a murder machine with many kills between mice, possums, and squirrels.
Cuteness factor: C-
Temperament: D+
Ease of ownership: B+ (points deducted for loudness of howling)
Loyalty: C+
Intelligence: LSU defense rating
Insatiable appetite for the blood of her victims: A++

If it means that little to you . Just put it down a-hole. Or give it to someone who will at least care for it......

Those can be the most endearing parts about a dog. It's the quirks that make you love them more.

I'm in the market for a Golden and they're hard AF to find for a reasonable price. Guess I'm gonna have to pony up to get one.
We have owned two. They are the best. My daughter bought one in Indiana. To get a good one (well bred with most medical defects out of the gene pool) you are looking at $2,000.00. Our first was a lovely and sweet female we bought from a family that wanted their dog to have puppies.
This dog was sweet and smart as could be. She also had every damned medical problem Golden's are known for. She lived to be 11.5 years (Most of it suffering with ailments. Spend the money and get a quality bred dog. We have one now. The difference between the two dogs is massive.
