Kind of on topic story.
My favorite booze sneaking onto a cruise story is about my dad. This was pre 9/11 though.
Our cul-de-sac decided to do a neighbors cruise. All the adults were big into wine. My dad decided he was going to try to bring a bunch of bottles on board (none of us had done a cruise before, so we weren't sure of the level of bag checking). So he has 20 bottles in a bag with some clothes padding it. We get in line, and we notice that they are actually going through people's bags. I was 15 and thinking of shite he's about to get majorly busted. My mom and I get through first and are on the boat before we see what happens to him. We both thought he'd be getting in some sort of trouble.
About two minutes later he comes strolling up with all his bags. We ask him how he got away with that, and he starts laughing. Apparently the security guy looked in his bag, looked up at dad, and basically said are you serious? Dad noticed that the guy was french and started speaking some french to him, and then said "come on, it's just a little wine." The guy said something in French and then let him through.

I have been on quite a few cruises and carnival has by far been the best experience. If you plan on drinking the entire time buy the drink package and make sure you arent just drinking beer. You get a max of 15 per day so this means you will need to bring your own liqour on as well. We filled empty shampoo bottles and tipped the bag boy $10 each when we got to the ship. I recommend going to the sit down dinners as carnival has some great food. I find that most ports suck when cruising. If you can get to a beach or something for the day, do so, otherwise you are going to be stuck in a small area os pointless shops and peddlers. Have fun

If you're going to bring booze anyway, why pay for the booze on the boat?
ETA: Or at least why buy the drink package? We still bought the occasional drink on the boat, but that just seems like double spending if you're bringing your own booze regardless.

Royal Caribbean would be my choice.
Been on 3 Royal Caribbean cruises and will never do them again. They are more geared towards 50+ so not a lot of fun activites for mid-late 20s. I got extremly sick from the food on 2 of the 3.
Have had to most fun on Carnival. Their daily activities are fun and engaging.

I went on a cruise and stopped at these exact ports. I'd do an excursion near the beach/water in Jamaica. We did an excursion that went inland and I have to say the country is a shithole. And don't get hustled by the bus driver to take you "shopping" for some extra cash. We tried that and it was a total ripoff. He just took us to a couple raggedy tourist shops, but we did get to witness a shooting...

I got tired of Bingo and trivia pretty quick. The shows on carnival are fair and the actual entertainment on board is minimal. Of course it all depends on the boat, but the ones in nola are limited to Chess, PuttPutt (which is useless on a rocking boat in 30 mph winds) a few pools and a waterslide.
Several of royal caribbean ships have Flo-Riders, rock climbing walls, zip lines, and infinity pools. The shows are much higher quality and your less likely to see your comedian as your head waiter and also your cabin steward. Again, this is all dependent upon which ship you're cruising.

When you get to Cozumel hire a taxi to bring you to Sky Reef. $15 to get in, you get a drink, snorkler gear, and a massage. There also a tequila bar and a restaurant with really good food. Well worth it.
Dint rent MoPeds anywhere you go.

If you start drinking at 10AM, 15 doesnt go very far

I find it hilarous when people say cruises, especially Carnival, are trashy but they have all this great insight about how to sneak booze on these ships.

Are you required to have a passport to go on a cruise?

Roll call threads for the Dream. I did a cruise in 2009 and some of us had a party the night before.
Buy some rum runners and bring your own alcohol:

I got one when I went but if you leave a US port and return to a US port you don't need one.

Thanks
You didn't have any trouble getting on and off at ports?
