GoFundMe accounts? Am I the only one who finds this despicable?

I can understand GoFundMe accounts for family catastrophes like cancer, dad suddenly dying, kids funerals and so forth.
But I just saw a guy ask about starting one for his sick cat.
Am I the only one who thinks this is pathetic compared to people who have real problems? Or is this the new millennial thing to do; just beg for money for every little problem in life?...(and I'm a millennial for full disclosure)

I saw one for a couple that we used to be friends with awhile back. They were asking people for money to go on a vacation. They were basically laughed off of facebook and ended up deleting their GoFundMe request. People were like "wtf are you doing? Is this for real?"
