met Betts a few times, he was close friends with a good friend of mine in Bradenton, they actually bought a cabin in Georgia together, Dickey would play in my friends back yard every New Year's Eve, always drunk out of his mind, or it seemed that way

it was pretty awesome, my friend lived on some acreage although there were a few subdivisions nearby and several parties also had bands, when they were warming up there was always sort a battle of guitar licks aimed at each other, I'd always look at my friend and say, I think we're going to win again this year
