nurses and teachers is the rumor on the streets up here

I didn't realize your wife was an ICU nurse. what's her specialty? cardiac, neuro, surgical?

b&b- no worries. L-Nurse and I are frequently mistaken for the other.

When we met she was surgical, she switched to cardiac many moons ago.

gm mptn

I have a lot of nurses in the family. One NICU, and two that went through the ranks and became admins. MIL is mid 70's and still pulls 1-2 shifts per week. She has plenty of money but just misses the environment.

me too!

cardiologists, while having somewhat of a god-complex, pale in comparison to an egocentric surgeon.

and the inner workings of the heart is far more interesting than perf'd colons and such

Happy Thanksgiving OT!

Ugh sorry to hear. I've been dealing with TMJ the past 4 weeks and I am finally starting to get relief after using a muscle relaxer robaxin the last week or so. Was going to ask about a night guard but see you have one coming . Have you tried Botox? Physical therapist?

NICU- neonatal or neuro?

and I get it abt missing the environment. Once it's in your blood- you can't just can't walk away from it, until you just can't walk anymore

I love bedside nursing. I have my master's and could do admin, but I'd rather poke hot needles in my eyes and post of the poli board than have a desk job.

So I've been dealing with tmj for 10+ years now. I've done it all.

I do botox regularly, robaxin helps but makes me so sleepy I cannot function the next day.

I did night guards for abt 3-5 years before seeing a specialist who said I needed braces to manipulate my whole maxilla/mandible jaw structure (or surgery- which is off the table for me)

I take fioricet like candy bc it doesn't impair my ability to function.

i've also done acupuncture, PT, and chiropractic therapy.

Literally, I've done everything except surgery and I think I'd rather have headaches than have that surgery.

Amen. When you find something that works let me know and I'll do the same . My PT attempts start on Tuesday, chiropractor was last month and likely caused my most recent flare-up...

awe... tiny humans. :hearts:

When I was still flying, one of my coworkers was the nurse on a scene of a premature delivery- a 24 weeker (I think??) anyways, she was pretty tore up abt that flight and said the baby was so tiny, it looked like a baby squirrel.

she wasn't making fun of the newborn- just shocked at how tiny lil fella was. and now, quietly in my head (bc irl ppl don't understand the humor coping mechanism that nurses have to have to survive with any degree of sanity) I think of premies as baby squirrels.

botox and braces have been what works the best for me.

It's partly my fault I am having issues again. I was so tired of braces, I begged my dentist to remove early bc my headaches were gone. I still needed my back molars to move forward abt 2 mm. My dds said he'd take them off and make a retainer for me but that I'd prob need to go back in braces if my molars didn't move.

and he was right

have you been to a TMJ dental specialist? The guy I saw in memphis is world renowned for his therapy in TMJ. I am happy to see if he knows anyone in your area who can help you.

New dentist brought up braces but trying to avoid them for some reason. If they'd actually fix the problem I might be more willing, but I'm tired of just throwing money at this cause.

I don't have a TMJ doc down here in FL (west palm area) so if your doc knows of someone here that'd be great. I asked my TMJ specialist in Seattle if he knew anyone but he said no. So in a few weeks I take a trip to the opposite corner of the country for a ski vacation/TMJ visit and probably botox

I'll text him next week and see who he knows down there. He does certification workshops and ppl from all over the world come to his courses.

email me at *edit* so I don't forget to get back to you.

also- this is not a swipe-left-right-or whichever, hookup attempt, booty call in the makings offer.
