Yes. Trailers we are looking at for them are like 20-25K. This one we are getting is 23K and my dad putting some money down. And we aren't worried about depreciating as I don't see them selling this place later on.
Only certain finance companies will do these type of loans...and they usually have minimums for the loan(like around 20K). So my dad was limited on how much money he could put down on this home. So it won't eat up all his FEMA money, which is good. He can put the rest in savings as a safety net for them. Their expenses will be a little bit more here. He will have his monthly note on the trailer on top of lot rent(that right there is $400/mo here...it was $280 at their place in BR...and they owned their trailer in BR outright, using insurance money to buy it).
Considering their financial situation and all...it's the best solution for them. I'll see about applying them for food stamps as well, who knows, maybe they might qualify for some. With my mom's injury...her job search will have to wait. Once we are 100% sure when this place closes we can start the job search for my brother.
