Good morning Cajun and everyone else.

When in high school I worked for a funeral director that was on a destroyer in the USN (which he always referred to as a 'tin can').

Some weeks after the attack on Pearl Harbor his ship was hit by a Jap Kamikaze and he survived. He had patches of skin on his arms that had no hair on them because they were skin grafts taken from his arse apparently.

He had many great stories but among the best was how he told me that they took the torpedo fuel from their own torpedos and strained it through bread to drink it. He said they had torpedo mis-fires all the time. He was one funny guy.

Worked with an older guy in Tulsa in the 1990's that had some "weird" food hangups. Finally got him to tell me about it one day.

He had to eat bugs, snails, lizards, sand crabs, whatever he could get a hand on while evading Japanese capture, sole survivor of his unit when the Japanese launched a temporarily successful counter-attack. For 6 months or so he lived as an animal in constant fear for his life and isolated from all other human contact.

He never ate any rice products again, pretty much beef and potatoes only.

Good morning, Fellas. Hope most of you are well.
Cajun, great work...others that contributed anecdotes, good stuff.

Interestingly, the 2nd portion of FDR's speech contained the word, "dastardly"....word has fallen into disuse...Too bad. I wonder if it has been used by a President since then...

I shall use it today...

Hey CS.

Morning LCA.It's a pretty powerful piece about FDR's speech. What it took for him to make it,upright, with leg braces, with his Son James at his side, into Congress and to the podium.

I love when he says,"The United States, through our Righteous Might".

Morning Ducks,Mir,RhodeDawg(cool story),Sidicous(cool story),Ellis Dee,ctiger,Papa,pioneerbball,Wally Sparks,TT89,OTrs of the GMT.

What's going on Tbird. How are the Spurs adjusting to life after Timmy?Make it a great day.

Morning, Mouse, LCA, Ellis, Pioneer, Fish, Dyslexic.

Jet lag is screwing with me. I used to travel a lot for work, so it was no big deal, but I quit a few years ago.
