MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) (June 14, 2021 6:07 p.m.) — The Monroe Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that resulted in the death of an infant.

According to Monroe Police, the crash took place on June 10 shortly before 2:30 P.M. at the intersection of Magnolia Cove and Sterlington Road. While at a stop sign, a 2020 Toyota 4 Runner was struck by a 2007 Ford F-150 pick-up truck after it left the roadway.

The driver of the 2020 Toyota 4 Runner and a 9-month-old were transported to a local hospital where the infant died from their injuries.

The 17-year-old driver of the 2007 Ford F-150 was cited for No Registration and Careless Operation.

The toxicology results are pending and the investigation is ongoing.

This mother's strength, even in losing her son, should be an inspiration to us all. Legend's life will live on in the lives of 3 other children he saved. Even his heart will beat on in the child blessed enough to receive this living Legend's heart. God bless this family in displaying God's heart to us all!

The thought of suddenly losing my kid makes me want to crawl up into a ball and die.

I've been following it too and it's a very sad story. That woman is a pretty amazing person. There's a go fund me for the family, but I'm not linking it on here.

Y’all aren’t even seeing the picture that ripped my heart out. Mom was airlifted to a different hospital at some point - there’s a picture of her sobbing on her stretcher next to baby L on his stretcher that I will see in my dreams forever. Not sure if it was from the beginning or end, but it was shared in one of her posts.

So unfair that the little angel only got 9 months. I’m not religious, but I will say a prayer for him and his mom today.

This thread is a gut punch.

I have a daughter his age and I completely adore her.

She was airlifted to Shreveport and is still there while her son has been here in Monroe. That picture you are talking about is from the beginning. She didn't even get to be here when they took him off life support. I know her and her new husband. It is a terrible situation that I wouldn't want anyone to go through. She is a new christian within the last year. She has asked for prayers for the 17 year old boy that hit her and killed her son. That shows huge faith and forgiveness. I don't know if I could be that forgiving this early on. We can all truly take a page from her/her husbands book throughout this terrible situation

This is the worst thought I can imagine. I don’t know how you go on after losing a child.
