How many of those people had thousands invested in season tickets, parking passes, RVs, etc?

I get that it’s a hobby for the diehard fans but what I don’t get is the complaining. If I have a scheduling conflict with a wedding chances are the wedding is going to lose but I won’t be starting a thread about it.

That is fricked up.

People have to work Monday. Why didn’t you think about their well-being?

We can do this all day.

I felt bad once the schedule was out and it was actually a home game with South Carolina. Cause one of my friends that I've known since middle school that went has season tickets and is a huge fan.

I chatted with her on the phone about it telling her I'm sorry about them missing the game. Her reply:

"It's just a game, we can easily sell those tickets and make a profit. I wouldn't miss your wedding for anything. Plus...I'm looking forward to a long weekend at the beach with my family."

Did you see my post? October 13 is when I got married. 6 years ago. Sucks my anniversary this year is on a Saturday...perfect day to plan a weekend getaway this year...yet we likely won't do much more than a nice dinner this year cause of everything else going on

You know saying it's just a game is really a flippant response to a lot of people. It's really big deal to a lot of people. Tailgating with friends and family who you don't get to spend a lot of time with. and I doubt the Bride to be is a GRITS. Girl Raised in Tiger Stadium

can you believe it’s been 6 years?! maybe go back to the beach y’all got married on? that would be special even with all the stuff that’s going on. you’re so close to the west coast though .. cabo or vallarta would be amazing this time of year.

Is that a thing?

There are usually 4-6 other games to tailgate at during the season.

Scruffy is just saying, a wedding is a bit more special, in his opinion.

Two very close friends, both DIEHARD LSU fans both gave me that exact same response when I talked to them about them missing the game to attend my wedding(They said "It's just a game"). And both of them meant what they said to me. So you saying they were being flippant?

I understand it is really important to some people. But the thing is...it clearly isn't that important to the couple planning the wedding. They don't have to plan their wedding around other people's passions and hobbies because at the end of the day....it is THEIR WEDDING.

I wanted fall (esp October) cause the weather is always getting nicer where I live. And the weather is nice at many places I would potentially like to travel to for anniversary trips in the future. And travel is cheaper to most places cause it isn't a holiday or summertime. Going to the beach for an anniversary trip will be cheaper as it's not the peak season anymore but water isn't too cold yet. I wasn't just thinking my wedding day... I was thinking long term.

Yes my husband loves football, but he isn't from the South, he hates LSU, and just isn't as obsessed over it like people from the South are. He regularly misses games he wants to watch on the weekend cause he would rather go out and mountainbike cause the weather is nice so he just DVRs and watches later if he wants. So for us...both of us content to get married in the fall.

Don't know where the scruffy is from but guess not from the 225. The only reason I can see having a fall wedding the South is someone might not be alive much longer or you want to save money and not have as many people there and they will probably send a gift

You literally cut out 6 months of the year because of sports.

What about spring and LSU baseball?

We really need to save the money for other stuff. Our splurge was the Peloton bike my husband used a work bonus to buy. That can be our anniversary gift to one another this year

Hell I would be content with a quick weekend trip to San Diego or maybe even Rocky Point.

Baseball is not a big a thing. And I couldn't care less. But I disagree with y'all. Just because you and your family aren't big into football or tailgating you really are kinda trying to force you're values on others. Probably y'all weren't in sororities or fraternities in college. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole fraternity system? And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Scruffy - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America.!

March was absolutely out of the question for us. My husband LOVES March Madness. He already gets screwed every year cause my bday is March 24(usually when the bigger games of the tournament are happening). I wasn't about to add a wedding anniversary to that

Wait, it is the vandy game, and you will be coming off a loss from LSU.

Just go to the wedding and have fun
