If you don’t stand your ground now you may as well cut it off and hand it to her, because she’ll lead you around by from next weekend forward.

My wedding was on that week of December after the conference champ games but a week before bowl games start—it worked out well for all.

How much do you like her? If you do you need to put your foot down or she'll get the idea that "If he goes to my friend's wedding in football season my wedding can be in football season."

She's testing you.

My buddy is getting married on the 13th as well. She's a straight count but he's an idiot. He'll find out she's cheating on him in like 10 years i guess.. he won't listen to us

These threads are sad. There's more to life than college football. Go socialize.

They could have gotten married anytime, I don't trust any marriage that occurs on a football Saturday anyways. Plus, with all of the streaming tech today, they can put that up online. I'd say send them a gift but it's your girlfriend's friend so screw them.

no one is making you go.
if your gf is rational and cares about your happiness, just explain that your priorities don’t include going to a wedding. i wouldn’t want to make my SO do anything that makes them unhappy if it’s avoidable. if the friend of the gf isn’t your sister, aunt, or cousin- i don’t think you have to go. it’ll be a real life experiment in compromise.
no one needs a date to a wedding.

I honestly think you really notice this more once you move out of the South. I bet yesterday where you live people were just doing whatever they wanted on a nice Saturday not letting a football schedule dictate their social calendar.

Florida plays Vanderbilt on the road that day. Sounds like they were somewhat considerate since they picked a weekend against a shitty opponent and it isnt a home game.

No one who attended my small wedding was mad it was on a Saturday. Not even the diehard LSU fans that went. Even those friends realize it is just a football game.

Bride says I don't care about football. Butte really is a selfish bitch. Most of the wedding party does in the south. And her soon to be husband probably drives a Prius with a Bernie sticker

I wanted a wedding in the fall for several reasons. Knowing many of my friends are huge LSU fans I knew the first weekend of November was a massive no no so we didn't even consider that. So I tried to pick when I thought it would be a bye week or a cupcake opponent. Did the best I could considering we had to lock in our venue before the football schedule was actually known.

How old are you OP?

If the answer is over 30, this is a sad post. If you’re under 30, it’s still not your girlfriend’s fault her friend is getting married that day. Grow up.
