I sent the long message earlier to
Contact me but lymphoma is what I caught.. They have new drugs for this cancer and the side effects are very slim.. Let me know what your doctors want to do.. There is almost a pill for this cancer. What kind of lymphoma though? I had ano plastic large cell lyhphoma. The way mine has come back was way different and not by the books.. You'll get through this.. My lyhphoma popped randomly out of no where..

From what I heard you're only supposed to do 2 CT scans a year.
Don't worry about that. Let the heme onc/rad onc/surg onc folks take care of you.

So your colon cancer spread to your neck and the lymph nodes next? Is that a natural progression of the cancer from the colon area to the neck?
Posted on 5/15/16 at 7:59 pm to vodkacop
Prayers to you brother. Many of them.

Basically, yes.
Lymphatic drainage from the abdomen goes through the thoracic duct to the left subclavian vein, so colon/gastric/etc cancer can have a Virchow's or left subclavian node (base of the neck on the left).

Wow. That's freaky shite. They said mine was contained and hadn't moved past high grade dysplasia yet when they removed my colon five years ago. My necks been feeling swollen as shite since December (today as a matter of fact). Figured it was allergies. Perhaps I need to check on it.

No. I have cancer of the tonsils. I decided to forego surgery and instead go the chemo and radiation route. Surgery would have me eating through a tube for to long afterwards. As soon as my dental work has healed I will start the radiation and chemotherapy

Just a small update:
Just started my second week of treatment which includes radiation every day and chemotherapy once a week. So tired from radiation after the first week I slept all weekend. Radiation also killed my taste buds, everything tastes bitter and like ashes. Even when I don't eat anything I have just the worst taste and feel in my mouth. Headaches/migraines for the last four days but none today which is great. Dizziness, nausea and a host of other shite, that ain't bad alone but together, makes life shitty ATM. But I'm soldiering through. Thats my update. Oh forgot about the shitty radiation sunburn. But the nurse who does my radiation and the girl at the MBP desk are always there with a smile and make my appointments bearable.

Prayers man... And good point on the nurse making things bearable.
I was in a wreck 3 weeks ago. I broke my femur, sliced my liver and kidney, and cut my head pretty bad. I had to have surgery on the leg to put a rod through my femur and had to spend 5 days in the hospital. My doctors were kind of dicks, but it really helped having a couple of really good nurses and physical therapists that I could talk to and kind of ask their opinions.

Best of luck to you. Keep on fighting, work to keep your nutrition up the best you can. Head and neck cancer sucks, but Without getting into too much detail, it sounds like the type of cancer you have is the more favorable type for that area and typically responds well to chemoradiation. I see what you have nearly every day I work.
Is your ENT one of the lsu docs or someone else?
