My dad lived in Rock Springs, Wyoming running some sort of refinery/plant construction project for 4-5 years. He loved it but he loves being in the middle of nowhere.

I worked a turnaround one summer in college in Rock Springs. We stayed in town and it was about a 45 minute bus ride to the plant. Probably the same one.

While I haven’t been to Jackson Hole and can only imagine the women would be hotter there, I’ve been trapped in Wyoming on two occasions and have spent a few nights there. Was snowed in at Rock Springs for 2 days, and those women were fugly and have rotted out meth teeth. Laramie is marginally better, but it’s only because their teeth aren’t rotted out. The state may have the ugliest people, with North Dakota being its only competition.

Maybe so. This was probably 10-12 years ago?

I-80 across Wyoming is one of the most dreadful drives in the US. There are few worse places than Wamsutter.

Tell me about it. Snowed in Rock Springs for two days at a Holiday Inn attached to a Old Chicago Pizza and had a blown out tire in the middle of bumfrick that made me spend the night in Laramie. That strip is hell. You can haul arse down it though provided it’s not winter, and then you are stuck going 30 since you can’t see the road under you from the snow drifts. Absolute hell driving there in the winter.

It’s the meth capital of the United States, so I’d be concerned why he loved it so much.

I asked him because of this thread and he said he lived in Green River outside of Rock Springs so I was a little off.

Here’s a Vice article from a few years ago that perfectly encapsulates what Rock Springs is:

quote:

Rock Springs is the type of place where an eighth grader can sincerely develop an identity based on sobriety.

And here’s another good quote about Rock Springs in that article.

quote:

Now that I've moved back to the state—to Laramie, a college town—I tell people I'm from Rock Springs, and they sort of inch back and widen their eyes, like they're reassessing me or sensing for signs of danger. One guy said, "That's the first place I was offered meth." (Funny—me, too.)

Green river is literally the only thing that isn't brown across southern Wyoming. It's just a few miles west of Rock Springs.

Is there even the option for pretty for anyone who is over 22?
