you sound like you lived in my neighborhood. if you used to build underground forts with wood over them and an old top of a washing machine as the door all camoed with palm branches and leaves, I know you

They’re welcome to hang outside as much as they want, but I don’t have a good reason to force them to stay outside.

those were the days. no one was offended nor pussified. I would bike ride miles away from my home my dog followed me everywhere not on a leash; and no one blinked an eye. I drank water out of whatever neighbors hose. no one freaked the flip out if we played or walked through their yard.

This does very little for us in narrowing down how you ended up the way you are

Nope.

But we did have a 4 story treehouse that we built. Neighborhood was surrounded by a LOT of woods, small lake back in the woods, 4 wheeler and bike trails everywhere, etc.

Just about everyone had a dog or two, all outdoor dogs. 4 wheelers, trampolines, tree houses, etc were the entertainment. And basketball goals. All over the streets on the curbs.

A dog will be fine outside during the day, if the yard is fenced and it has a place to escape the elements. I wouldn't leave a dog outside if there's a threat of a thunderstorm, but dogs, at least dogs that are worth having, are meant to be outside some of the time. That dog will be happier outside than in a kennel inside.

I’ve always just had a dog door. It’s pretty much the best option.

No, it’s not. I’ve had a dog and loved it before. I will not die for it.

That's why you don't need one.

It's an object to be owned by you. Spare the dog from that fate.

Not a question that I can answer. I’ve never had to keep them outside all day, except for when we repainted inside.

It’s not that simply. I grew up the same. But there was land. Vacant lots. I’m not letting my dog roam the neighborhood in Oak Hills. If I lived in Ethel, different story.

You sound like a crazy person.

Dogs are possessions. And to lift them to the level of a human is sick. The people that say “I’d rather see a person dead than a dog” are fricking twisted. The bottom of the OT tier of existence is worth more than my dog.

Or maybe you love that which loves you.

Unconditionally I might add.

That reminded me of when I repainted one of our halls and one of our dogs had a green streak down its side for a month.

You sound like a poor pet owner, if you’re going to leave the dog outside all day then you probably shouldn’t be getting a dog.

Outdoor dogs are great.. I have 2. Just walk him daily and bath him weekly. Bring him in at night to a kennel or dog room.

Again, I have no problem with outside dogs. But why even bother bringing them in to kennel them or put them in the laundry room? Save the bath and let them sleep outside. It’s cooler and pleasant outside at night.
