The Tangipahoa parish water company just started taking electronic payments about 2 years ago. The waste company here about a year and a half ago. And my wife loves writing checks to people.

So I still have checks. Ugh.

If you are authorized to sign the instrument, it would be properly payable. However, if the signatures do not match, the bank may, or may not, honor the instrument.

I still write checks occasionally just to show of my fancy architect printing prowess. For example, I will write one tomorrow to the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners for $700.00 to pay my fine for not having proper proof of continuing education hours. I'm sure they will be impressed with my penmanship.
