Generator repair

While I'd like to purchase a Honda or Yamaha generator, I can't justify the additional cost considering how little this item will be used.
That said, the "value" generators appear to be Westinghouse and Champion. For those of you who have these engines, where do you get them serviced around the Baton Rouge area?
I looked on their website and I am not able to locate an authorized repair center should one be needed.
If this is the case, is it better to stick with Dewalt or Briggs and Stratton and pay a little more, knowing a service center is nearby?

Any handyman can service those generators. There isn't much to them.

Is there any approximate cost? I have a few that are out of commission.

Are parts for these type of power equipment tools usually generic?

Less than $20 if it's a carburetor...maybe a total loss if the engine is borked. Really depends on the issue.

I have the 7500 Westinghouse. I've been pleased. I do my own maintenance, and it's very easy to get parts direct from Westinghouse. (I tore a carburetor bowl gasket when I cleaned my carb.). It arrived in 2 days. I've had mine for 3 years and have about 150hrs on it.

Most lower priced generators have a Chonda engine. Chonda = Chinese Honda GX engine clone. The engine parts are easy to find and cheap. The other parts not so much. Look at Champion and Wen who both sell the engine and electrical parts with customer service toll free numbers in the USA.
