To my recollection no improprieties occurred.
He’s been dead (Jim) since 1986.
Ironically I visited the cemetery in Carthage, MO where he’s buried last year for an unrelated reason.

Notice how he holds the jaw shut with one hand. Alligators have tons of bite down pressure but they don’t have opening up power. I learned this from catching lots of gators.
