It's kind of a mixture of trucks and crews here. I've seen one man crews, two and three man crews. There's also mechanized grabbers for those really large cans and sometimes the recycling guy has one. Then there's another type of truck that has a hydraulic box on the front that they fill up and then it flips it over the top. Mostly depends on what part of the city or which suburb they are in.

What the frick caused that?

Compressed air can cause a spark and the oxygen was the fuel.

You can take a piece of galvanized pipe, put a small piece of tinder in it and use a bolt to compress the air from the other side and it will light the tinder on fire. it is a poor man's lighter for camping because it is damn near foolproof.

I didn't know there were garbage men that ride the back of the truck and pick up trash anymore.

Already one of the worst jobs you can have without idiots putting oxygen tanks and lithium batteries in the trash trying to blow you up.

They do here in New Orleans. The trucks usually have a driver and 2 guys in the back loading garbage into the back. I've seen them running with 3 guys in the back in the hot summer months.

They pass early in my neighborhood and in the summer months those guys are soaked from head to toe with sweat. I do my best to have cold bottled water for them to get some fluids back in their system------and they appreciate the hell out of it.

I will start with the fact that I just have a Louisiana high school education. Feel free to tear into my post.

Compressed air can create heat but not a spark.

Oxygen is not a fuel.
