Gameday Street Parking North of Campus

I like to park on the street north of campus because 1. It’s close to my tailgate spot 2. Easier to get out for me heading north
I’ve been parking there for 15 years or so without paying a dime. Last few years, it seems like every person in that feels like they own the public street in front of their house. I had a sign taped on my truck this week that “I owed them $20. Their yard is not my parking spot”. Not one part of my truck was touching the curb.
Why is this allowed by BRPD? Public street parking should be free and by no means should the homeowners feel they have a right to charge for parking on a public street.

Call and file a complaint. I'm sure BRPD will be on it by morning

Usually park in the neighborhood LSU Avenue runs through. Some people put up cones, and I’ve always respected that. Some people put rope up, which you can just park next to. But one of the times we parked in front of someone’s house, they ran over to the vehicle asking for $20. Just walked off.
As you said, they can’t do anything about you legally parking in the street. They definitely can’t make you pay.

Sometimes it’s worth the $20 to not have your car keyed or your tires slashed when you get back.

So you think a hand written sign without a state seal is a binding contract?

Don’t worry. They took $20 worth of shite out of it during the game

It's crazy how many people don't know the good spots to park on game days.

It'd also be nice if the culture that has developed to allow people to charge for street parking is clamped down on. If someone wants to open their yard, good for them.

I once had someone park within an inch of either side of my bumper and demand $40 to let me out. To this day, I wish cancer on that motherfricker every time I think about it.

I don't know. I think getting drunk, grassing the yards, and breaking all the windows of a house that dude who thought he deserved $20 enough to touch my car is well worth the reprisal. Hell if get the itch, and get wired for sound, I could drink for three days eyes wide fricking open and convince them it wasn't worth twenty bucks.

BRPD is out there working intersections. They're being paid to stay in one spot. Just don't park by that house anymore, the street is a public right of way. You owe no one anything. Just find somewhere else to park, the residential parking lots are fair game, just find a spot in the giant lot off Aster.
