People have absolutely gone off the rails all weekend on the posts. Placing 100% of the blame on teachers + admins for not properly implemented de-escalation + disciplinary steps. Also for involving the SRO for what started as a dress code violation.
Conflicting reports on if the SRO tried to intervene & enforce the dress code issue or if his intervention only began when he became a safety threat to himself or others when trying to leave camps. There are loads of opinions & conflicting reports on whether an SRO is even supposed to intervenet when a student (of any age) is trying to leave admin custody or campus.
Why are SROs contracted to be on campus to protect students from outside threats as well as imminent threats but they can't be used to step in after teachers & admins are out of options? They're ON campus but contracted rules state they aren't to intervene to enforce school/school board rules but only actual legal issues.
Bottom line is this: kid punched a uniform police officer & people are fighting for him to be freed with all charges dropped.
All that will do is embolden more students to do the same. Absolute idiocracy to allow this to happen.
If you're screwing up at school to the point a uniformed officer has to intervene = you deserve what you get.

Is the SRO employed by the school? If so, can the student be expelled for hitting a school employee?

Surprised that nobody mentioned the man, err student, fired off a few shots in a drive by on someone's house last year. Yep, right back on campus. Thank our ridiculous liberal special education laws...

Our local HS has kids with ankle monitors all the time. Last year a kid charged with rape was going there for a while until the victim's uncle threatened to kill him.
