Fun Police....Why Are They Such Kill Joys?

They are around hiding all over the place. They are like the Cops who lurk trying to pull someone over for no reason. You know who they are. Whenever someone post a thread about space or something and that there could be the possibility of Alien life, the Fun Police jump out of the wood works and shut it down.
It's like we aren't allowed to have any fun. You could debate to them the sky is blue or that water is wet, but they would say otherwise. You know the bully that plays keep away from the kid who isn't able to defend himself. That's them. There's no Alien life, even though there are like trillions of galaxies, which have like billions of stars. Yeah we are douche bags because we are the only ones.

Often, because they're paid to.
Cops write tickets because they have quotas to fill. The revenue is split with the police department and they get bonuses from the cut.
SJW journalists are paid to write stories that get "clicks". A great way to generate "clicks" is by stoking moral outrage. The aspiring SJW's do the same things on their twitter accounts and blogs to drive clicks. Advertisers use them for the same purposes. There is no "content" anymore. The commentary IS the content!
If you want to talk about weird topics, you have to be able to withstand being called a weirdo. Why? Because the CIA coined the term "conspiracy theorist" as a disparaging remark to curtail curiosity. The people in charge of disseminating information don't want you to question the information you seek, and they ESPECIALLY don't want you seeking it out yourself. They want you to trust them and believe what they say. It doesn't matter what the topic is. If you wander from their narrative, you will be ostracized for it. You will be made an example of socially in order to dissuade others from going down the same path, just go along to get along.

That's exactly what I was trying to say in the thread, just came out wrong. Fun Police described just like you described. That's what I meant. Not just my Alien example. I meant in any thing that can be fun...the fun police have to control us. Like the government.

fun is dangerous. Activities that are dangerous produce injured people. Injured people sue. Attorneys make money off of injury lawsuits and encourage them in any "dangerous" situation. Insurance companies make money by not paying out claims, and thus look for any way to shed liability. People who don't want to be sued and need to be insured thus make sure they get rid of anything dangerous (i.e. "fun") to save themselves financially.

How about because it's their job to do this. You act like everyone is perfect and there isn't ppl breaking laws all the time.
Maybe these "quotas" take a bad guy off the street or prevent a driver from killing your friends or family.
Don't break the law and support law enforcement for enforcing laws.

I care a lot more about people raping, murdering, and robbing people than those going 70 in a 60 or 55 in a 45. Those laws are designed not for public safety, but for revenue collection. In most small towns, ticket revenue is one of the biggest pots of money keeping the government afloat. You have to understand that laws are not always crafted nor enforced purely for public safety in mind. Often times, they are done so in a way that best benefits those working for the government.
In many areas, are police are glorified tax collectors. It's not often police in BR solve a murder or catch a robber, but they damn sure go gangbusters on radaring for speeders and setting up DUI checkpoints around the university and after events like Brew at the Zoo.

I think for the most part Cops do their jobs. Now there are some bad apples. As for the thread I think the fun police he is referring to is the government, where they control everything. Aliens is a good example because of Area 51, but they have to do that for obvious reasons. I also think that everyone is entitled to their opinion and it's not exactly fun police being kill joys it's just we don't have unequivocal proof that things like aliens exist. So if we have no proof of these things, the said fun police are going to keep interfering.

I don't think I'll be able to change your perception here. I believe you should have a more open mind about law enforcement though and the positives of the things that are done.
I think you should also be more involved in your community if it is this way and you want change. It's good to bitch about it, but nothing will ever be solved doing that.

Can you blame them? Honestly? I mean you, I, and everyone knows this, yet it still happens. This is why they still do it. Can't be mad at them for doing their job.
