You’re missing my point. Even the “high achieving” students in your scenario are just memorizing and regurgitating information. Again, I understand that there is some benefit for that in certain instances, but all we do is have kids read a chapter, do a worksheet, then send them home with whatever work didn’t get finished at school for the parents to deal with.
It’s idiotic and out dated IMO.
Yeah we need to teach kids math and English and some intro to basic science and humanities but we should be focusing on teaching critical thinking and problem solving rather than “hey kid memorize these random dates about some empires 2000 years ago”

What I pointed out is why they are having to do this in every class. They can't do anything different because they have to bring every class down to the lowest common denominator.

That's another disaster that the OP and his ilk promoted and openly bragged about. Now you have these heathens literally running the schools and having good teachers leave.

Yep. "Equitable discipline" simply results in all students getting punished for the actions of the third world morons they're forced to be in class with because we can't discriminate against them by grouping all the high functioning kids together.
When one of my kids was in 4th grade, the entire class would have to "miss recess" every single day because of one kid who never acted right. That kid was never individually disciplined, even though everyone knew who and what the problem was. I didn't complain to the school. I made it a point to highlight to my child what policies forced her teachers hers to take these actions against their class. Building a better future, one conservative at a time.

That's part of "equitable discipline." The only way the numbers can be close to equal is if they lie about them. Even then, it's still obvious who the problems are.

In elementary school we all learned the abcdefg song. That was a start. In church we learned the lords prayer.
Then, at least where I grew up we learned all the Presidents (I don't recall exactly when, but still in elementary school) and then a year or two later all the states and their capital cities.
Then when you want to pass the bar exam and need to memorize things, or be able to call things up while in court, you are better trained.
If you are a doctor you know what medicine is needed during an operation you don't go "damn, I need that anti-bleeding stuff...dang, I always forget the name, it's in like this orange bottle.."
It's an extremely needed skill that we don't teach anymore because it's pass fail (you either know the Gettysburg Address or you don't) and God forbid we fail a child and make him feel bad these days.
