I could have sworn Choppa posted a WIP pic of his Matilda in my last model thread. But I just looked and what he posted was a museum pic…

Can’t wait to see his finished work.

That is an interesting camo scheme.

Ok Darth, armor won’t be my next subject but I’ll let you choose the one when I do armor again: Tiger or Abrams?

Yeah. Leave it to the British.

Tough choice. What manufacturer is each?

WWII (not world war eleven) plane. B-25 is my favorite, but it's probably been done a million or so times.

Rye Field Miniatures. The last Tiger I built was just the plain sand colored. I want to do that multi-camp like on the cover. Never have built an Abrams, but I want to do the sand version as worn in Iraq.

Wait - the count is 2 for armor and 2 for WWII planes if I counted correctly., so you may get the armor wish. I’m surprised no one said modern like the F-14, etc

And speaking of the kit, what’s your opinion of Accurate Miniatures? I’ve found this one to be alright, but with a few issues. Overall the fit of the parts has been fine, though not up to the standard of Tamiya who I consider the industry standard. And I’m not a fan of the instructions, but that might be more of me not being use to how they lay them out. But my biggest gripe is their sprues. They don’t have them organized by a lettering system and it seems parts spread out randomly among them. Despite all this though it hasn’t been a bad build, but my opinion might change completely when I flip it over to see if the landing gear will actually hold.

The worst part of the ones I built were the instructions and and the clear instrument panels. I don’t like decals for instruments. The ones I’ve built hd excellent fit. The landing gear on th Avenger is freaking solid.

Great surface detail, great fit, shitty instructions and decals

Tamiya grey primer followed by Ammo by Mig airbrushed one color at a time. No diorama, don't have the room.

Those RFM kits will test your patience. Super high parts count and just fiddley sub assemblies just for the fun of it (not). Worse if it's a full interior kit.

Ammo by Mig is legit. I primarily use lacquers, but the interior green is ammo.

Have you built RFM kits?

My vote is the Tiger I. Even though the Abrams was my home on tracks, the Tiger is just sexy.

Yah. In the IL -2 kit I had to paint the front side of the instrument panel, leaving the gauge lenses unpainted, which took a good deal of patience. Then I had to affix the instrument panel decal to the backside and prime it up with the gauge openings on the front. They made it way more complicated than necessary.

Yes, about five or six. Off the top of my head I built a Canadian Leopard 2 in Afghanistan theater with the slat armor, I built a British challenger 2 TES, a US M1024A1 M-ATV with CROWS weapon system. All were very good kits, be prepared to spend a long time building the treads on tanks.
They use individual link and length parts, and I think between the two tread runs on the challenger it was like four hundred pieces. No rubber band tracks like Tamiya.

Do it, man. That would be freaking cool. And post it here!

Thanks for the kind words. I never have built a wooden one - that’s above my pay grade
