There really isn't enough B in either place to have a D, much less a CBD. However, I have a country home outside Pine and would much prefer to live in Franklinton over Bog if I had to choose. Much.

I'd rather the lower east side of Bush, if it was me.

I wish i would have thought of Marrero. Your right. Worked new orleans metro area 11 yrs. Great comparison of the 70's.

Anyone who lives in Washington parish would tell you Franklinton, if those are your choices.

I go to both towns about once a week with work. I would choose Franklinton 10 out 10 times.

I don't get how anyone could live in Bogalusa to be honest.

As a native of Bogalusa, I have to admit, the business districts there aren't too much. My advice is to live in Mandeville and commute to your Washington Parish job.

Not anymore for sure, but from what I've always been told from older people (50+) Bog used to be the place to be. The richest people in the parish and surrounding areas lived in Bog. There's still some multi million dollar houses in Founders Drive. People didn't drive to BR or Mandeville for weekend fun, they drove to Bogalusa. The mill stinks but some people have made and still make a fortune in there.

Franklinton is just a small southern farming/logging town with not a lot going on, if you are looking for a small quite town it is OK. Not much different than hundreds just like it across the pine belt

Bogalusa is a shite stain that needs a giant tent placed over it for fumigation purposes. Every single demographic is failing there, it has rampant drug use, and is a filthy city that smells like shite.

Bogalusa is perhaps one of the shitiest places in the USA.

I've had the privilege of playing in the IP golf tournament at Bogalusa CC, they do have some big nice houses back there.

Thankfully they moved it to Money Hill this year

Bogalusa is sad because of how nice it once was. Built from nothing in the early 1900's around the sawmill and now paper mill. Population peaked in the 60's at over 20,000 but has slowly declined since. That place lives and does by the paper mill.

Agreed that Bog used to be a (relatively) big deal and a (relatively) nice place to be. When the mill opened long ago, so many people came in from out of state to work there that they established their own separate school system, etc., as the existing parish system was far too backwoods for them, apparently. Always been different from the rest of the parish. And now, unfortunately, not in a good way.
