It's the highest climp from the base of the mountain to the peak in the world.

Everest base camp is over 17000 feet. It's a 12000 foot elevation to the top. Denali basically starts at sea level so the total climp in elevation is over 20000 feet.

Same, I mean. I'd go to base camp and snap a picture or something, but thats good enough for me.

I would love to go there. The gift shop at the bottom is the farthest I would go. Got to get that "I've been to Everest and survived " bumper sticker.

Be safe on Denali if you get there. That is one serious mountain. It is so big that it creates its own weather patterns. There's a great book out about the 1967 Denali (McKinley) disaster.

My dad worked with a guy named Vern Tejas in the early 90's in Alaska. Apparently he was quite the character and only a few years before that, had completed the first ever solo ascent of Denali in the winter.

I've never understood the fascination of climbing to a height where your body starts shutting down and dying. Call me old fashioned.
That's why I always choose to "speed climb" Everest and K2...no chance to realize you have not yet acclimated before you get back down.

It costs like $50,000 to probably kill yourself while trying to be able to say that you climbed Everest.
