No experience with this particular type but our Beagle was diagnosed with oral cancer.
Treatment was not an option & after a lot of back & forth we decided to do it day X.
That week she ate nothing but steak, scrambled eggs, chicken nugget & cheeseburger happy meals & all the treats she could handle.

I will not put my pet through something that will not cure them or give them months longer instead of years especially at that age.

Only you know what is best for her & while you probably won’t be ready she will let you know when it’s time.

I will keep my fingers crossed that the vet has good news & she has lots of time left with you.

We are dealing with that now. 11 year old lab, started wheezing in May. A couple of rounds of antibiotics were ineffective, so did an x ray and found the lung mass. Did a fine needle aspirate and preliminary diagnosis was histiocytic sarcoma.

Meanwhile he was on prednisone which worked so well they could not find any swollen lymph nodes to confirm diagnosis and tell if it had spread. Took him off the prednisone three weeks ago, still waiting to see if the lymph nodes swell. So far he seems to feel fine except for an occasional wheeze.

If and when they can do another test, it will determine where we go from here. Hopefully some form of chemo if they think he can tolerate it. Vet says by the fact that it is taking so long is encouraging, may mean it is not as aggressive as they thought.

Good luck, brother.

I literally had to put down my dog yesterday morning that I’ve had since I was 13 years old. I’m 30.

And 5 days before that we had to put down the dog I’ve had since I was 14.

The one we put down yesterday was sick for a year or so and she stopped eating about a week ago. We were thinking this is it. Then the other dog, who still acted young and playful and hasn’t had an illness in his life also unexpectedly stopped eating and was coughing up a lung all of a sudden and had labored breathing for a couple days. Took him to the vet and he had heart failure. Just like that, we had to put him down. Wasn’t expecting that at all. The sick dog we were preparing for. Then the other one suddenly had to be put down.

2 dogs gone in a 5 day span.

It’s rough but they lived good, long lives. Wish they could live forever, but they can’t.

This. Your lab is 12. Her life has been great. Just make her comfortable until you can see the pain is affecting her daily life.

Mine was diagnosed at 13 and a half. Prednisone helped. I had to put him down at 15.

Sorry to hear, it’s hard to decide when they are still eating & drinking
It’s one of the hardest most selfless decisions people have to make but I have always been able to find some peace in knowing I did everything I could to prevent any suffering

Very sorry to hear about your pup, man...the only thing bad about dogs is that they just don't live as long as we do.

I don't have any answer for your specific situation. I can however, say that every single time I have had to put a dog down, I later realized that I had waited just a bit too long. If you wait until you "know it is time" then you have waited too long, IMO.
