I had heard of gaming scholarships starting to be a thing and this strikes me as ironic. Hard core gamers spend all their time gaming, often to the point of addiction. They are not spending time reading or showing an interest in the world or fellow human beings... the ideals a university would want to attract to their campus.
Tuition is going up five ? times the rate of inflation every year and they want to hand out gaming scholarships.

How is this different from someone that spent all their time hitting or chasing a ball to get a scholarship instead of reading the worlds scholarly works?

Suggesting that gamers can bring the same value to a school as basketball football players is absurd

It's not any worse than major football and basketball programs, if we're being honest

I don’t like people enjoying
things that I don’t like. What are you gonna do about it?

I don’t have to do anything.

You do a pretty good job of making yourself look foolish all by yourself.

In 2017, the eSports industry went from $463 million in revenue to $1.5 billion in revenue and is continuing to explode. I'm sure the schools could find a niche.

Yeah, Ninja makes half a million a month, but there's no market for gaming

Hogx. I’ll change my mind when I see 100,000 people in the stadium cheering on gamers
