He had an Icon A5 which is an amphibious Aircraft
Weren't these the ones that couldn't get approved because of crashes?

His plane would have had a ballistic parachute. Wonder why that didn't save him??

I'm betting he was water skimming when it happened.

This is why I will never learn to fly. I'd love to learn, but it always seems to be amateur pilots on small airplanes that meet their doom too soon.
just have to know your limitations

Furthermore, each aircraft would be equipped with a camera and recorder to monitor pilot behavior, that is owned by the manufacturer but must be maintained by the owner. Owners would have to agree to be "supportive" of the company.
Thats a bold strategy Cotton.

Knowing how he met his end, his twitter is sad and creepy.

A C205 went down right in front of me a few months ago and I didn't even see it. Pilot put it down in the water, and those on board swam to an island safely. It's still there under 150' of water.
He ran out of fuel in one tank and waited too late to switch to the other.
Coworkers brother was killed this spring showing someone how he could restart his engines on his twin engine plane in flight. Obviously didn't work.

If I'm gonna die in a plane crash I would rather be flying.

That plane he was flying is amphibious but isn't built for sea landings. The platforms will flip it in bumpy water
