Is it silly to fake being a military veteran? Yes, but cursing, shouting, and making a scene about it is even worse. I am sure that faker wasn't doing any harm.
Other than dishonoring those of us who actually did serve?

I've served plenty and the reaction was out of line. There is a right way and a wrong way to handle that and that was wrong.

I did's say anything about how the guy handled the situation. What I said was these fake posers are dishonoring those of us who served.

Never seen a Air Force Air Assault / Airborne with a CIB before.... It's impressive that he had time to do all that and be a pilot as well as combat medic. course he's got all that shite on exactly reverse the way it should go, so there's that though.
And how impressive of a soldier/airman do you have to be to get your own Presidential Unit Citation all to yourself to wear with your personal ribbons on over the left breast instead of on the right side where all the other smucks have to wear it?

I'm beyond proud of my decorations, but clearly the posers are mentally ill and its hard to get super pissed at someone that's fricked in the head.
Saw a guy in a bar with BDU's on had army and Marine Corps badges on in the wrong order, wrong side etc. Told me he wore it to impress the kids at his nephews Bday party. I didn't say anything went back to my drink and his lip starts quivering then he starts crying and runs out of the bar.

Im a old vet too, what that guy did was stupid, but that was the wrong way to deal with him.

yea we can have those on our uniform even though they tried to say Air Assault is not authorized anymore lots of people basically go frick off.

Civilian explains why he donned military uniform
Now see, reasoning like that I can understand. I have sympathy for those reasons after reading an article about a kid who wore his brother's ACU's on the anniversary of his death to honor his fallen brother.
The difference? The kid wore the uniform completely sanitized.
So if this guy is honoring his family members (whether they are in the represented units or not) needs to wear it correctly, and be ready to explain if someone asks...

I see a silver star, bronze star with cluster (so thats 2 awards of same medal), purple heart, 3! CIB awards. First 1 is just the wreaf and then you get a star for each additional combat zone. This guys is impressive and thats just a quarter of his accomplishments.

random dude on the table knows whats up.
He stood up for the guy. But honestly the ranger had a point.
Plus if you are going to fake it, at least be convincing.

And admit it immediately if you had ulterior motives. He was posing got caught and didn't explain himself.

If you are posing just to look like a soldier at least pose as an E-1. That way if you get called out you can just blame being an E-1.
This guy was wearing E-8, which would be someone who has been in the army a really long time.

Exactly,
My earlier post
This guy sticks out like a sore thumb. Looks like he is in his 20's and he's and E-8, funny.
Immediately a red flag goes up for anyone that has ever been in the army. Every single one of my first sergeants was 35 and over and I have had plenty.
