ETA: in no way am I supporting the fake soldier. Just to clear things up. The guy deserved to get hit.

My uncle, grandfather, and cousin has served. I thought about it, but I have different aspirations.

Here's an article about my cousin. LINK

When talking about his experiences, he would never muster a word about any fallen soldier that he served with. I find it disturbing that the guy in the video talks about it without even flinching.

ETA: I'm so clueless to anything about the Army and it's system, where does a Silver Star rank among other medals?

Quit editing, that's the third time. Every time I hit reply the post changes.

I take exception to your statement, but it's not worth getting into. That's all the gif meant.

Your post comes from a perspective that assumes soldiers are bringing up fallen brothers to win an argument. You don't understand why that's actually important to them. They're not just playing the 'fallen comrade card'. I understand how you could feel that way, just don't agree.

I didn't intend my post to come off that way. I apologize.

I did say "playing card". Looking back, I retract that statement. I just think fallen comrades are much to personal and deep to be mentioning in a public setting (especially yelling it among tons of people). That's what I meant to convey with my post

That's understandable. There is a widely held view that most soldiers won't speak about their experiences with civilians. That's mostly true. But I think that's mostly about specifics. Most vets I know are quick to call out posers, and don't mind letting that person know who they're disrespecting, even abstractly.

Goes to show me that certain people handle these situations differently. I guess I respect it more when they leave out their fallen friends because of my cousins actions

It also makes me wonder how many fake assholes would have paraded around in a stacked army uniform, in 1947. Something tells me it might have been worse.

It's disturbing to think about. Especially since back in that time, War is all everyone knew, so there were probably an uncountable amount of imposters.

Dude, the whole reason why that Ranger was justified in calling that douche out is because he lost brothers in arms who were wearing that patch.

Yeah, we know.

Because the person being a fake soldier is spitting in the faces of those who fought and died in that uniform.

Fixed it

Whether or not you had a problem with how the actual Ranger handled it is one thing, but that doesn't make him a tool. He actually earned his right to discredit others who didn't earn it themselves.

No, you didn't. I meant what I said. The wanna be Ranger is a tool for trying to pass himself off as a Ranger for ?????? (whatever the hell he was trying to get). The actual Ranger is a tool for making a big scene and acting like an unhinged lunatic instead of a civilized human being. There are several other ways he could have shut the faking jackass down maturely. He's a tool.

And yes the Ranger does have the right to do it. He has the right to say whatever he wants. I have the right to say anything I like. That doesn't mean I can't also make a complete tool out of myself by saying certain things or saying things in certain ways or at certain times and places.

The actual Ranger got arrested for harassment at the end of this incident. That should tell you everything.

Both parties involved in this are complete tools. I stand by that.

How would you 'shut the jackass down maturely'? What are a few of your several different approaches? I'm honestly curious.
