Ford recalls nearly 900,000 F-150, Super Duty pickups for fire risk

LINK

"Ford is aware of three fires originating from the engine block heater cable splice connector, and minor property damage reported in one incident. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries tied to this."

Probably not relevant in south Louisiana, but FYI.

This recall has a multiplier effect because it hits truck owners in cold weather states comparatively harder than other recall issues in the recent past, said Rebecca Lindland, executive analyst at Kelley Blue Book.

Affected vehicles include:

2015-19 F-150 vehicles built at the Dearborn Truck Plant between March 18, 2014, and Nov. 17, 2018, and at the Kansas City Assembly Plant between Aug. 21, 2014, and Nov. 17, 2018.

2017-19 Super Duty vehicles built at Ohio Assembly Plant between Feb. 5, 2016, and Nov. 17, 2018, and at Kentucky Truck Plant between Oct. 8, 2015, and Nov. 17, 2018.

Regardless. A lot of OT’ers drive their families in these trucks and probably want to know if there’s a fire risk.

Anyone that drives a Super Duty or anything above an F-150 is compensating for shortcomings

Most of them aren’t actually used as pickup trucks.

Mid sized rigs like the Tacoma, Colorado, Frontier, or Canyon can handle 99% of what pickup buyers ever throw at their trucks.

I'm 6'3 and have a middle school aged kid. No thanks for the mini trucks.

They are roughly the size of 1990s full sized trucks now.

Modern short bed crew cabs didn't really exist then either. It's nice to have a vehicle that has SUV like room on the inside and a bed at my disposal when I need it. I have a 4 wheeler that fits in the bed and I can comfortably carry 5 adults.
