Again, it is what it is.
Pest control companies, auto part companies, and other companies that just need a cab along with a bed to haul light stuff this is the solution.
For someone who just needs a daily driver to put a few things in back or tow a light trailer it is a great solution.
I think if it does well it shows other mfg that there is a niche for this. Huge issue is can they make a profit at that price along with the dealer?
Years ago a friend that sold S-10 says the base price one with the hub cabs, no radio, no rear bumper the dealer made 0 dollars on them. They used it to bring someone in to upgrade the to nicer which they made money on them.
Similar S-10 with a chrome package, chrome bumper, cloth seat, carpet, nicer paint job, and AM/ FM cassette radio made the dealer more money. Cost per month was only $5 to $10 more a month on most people’s notes. Most people jumped to the nicer model.

Bought a 1986 Mazda B-2000 for $6995. Long bed, standard transmission, no A/C. Drove it for 16 years. Replaced the timing belt, water pump and alternator. Gave it to a nephew, needed a new clutch/pressure plate, brake pads and discs. He paid for parts, knowledge was free.
Upgraded in 2002 to a Toyota Tundra.
I still drive it. Recently bought some new tires. Michelin had $90 off if you bought 4.
75,000 mile tires on a truck with close to 200,000 miles...not a problem.

The worst thing Ford could have done is to decidedly market this to women. That guarantees most males won't buy it. Silly, sure. True, yes. Make a compact pickup and market it to men who need to haul occassionally but don't want to buy a 75k truck with horsepower and towing capacity they will never use or need. Even with the fleet customers mentioned above, once you officially call it a "girl truck" it's done. Dead on Arrival.

Everyone wants an onld school type Ranger until Ford actually makes one.
It is and it ain't. Unibody, not body on frame, And the cheapo gets a hybrid.
I'd prefer a naturally aspirated 4 banger and a 6 speed manual.
Still not hating on it. It is what it is, and I like it. I think Ford has a hit on its hands.
Might even be my next commuter/DD once my current one hits 200k or so.

Glad you said “most”. I’m secure in my manhood.

That’s me. When these are a little more readily available, I’ll be giving the base model a hard look.
