As is was never in the military, i don't know if is should call myself a vet, but Osan, South Korea was likely my best assignment. If there's a record for smashing poon in a year, I probably hold it.

BEST: Frankfurt Germany and Tongduchon Korea. Germany for travel and German women, Korea for travel and Korean women

WORST: Did a lot of TDY from Ft. Hood to Ft. Polk and return. As a native Texan I thought I'd love Hood but both were worse than pecker cancer.

In my experience the bases with the worst locations are where you get to do the coolest stuff. I am thinking Beeville Tx. and 29 Palms California.

But the best, hands down, was Cubi Point. On a side note, when the base shut down they moved the entire O Club bar to the Naval Aviation Museum where it is in operation today.

Also had another asset in a hangar they would roll out from time to time.

The Dragon Lady is still a remarkable piece or aviation wonder, IMHO

I thought Korea sucked. I was an MP so my MOS had a lot to do with it.

I’m surprised McConnell in Wichita hasn’t come up.

I’m not military but I always hear everyone bitch about it.

You have a USAF picture and it says "Retired Air Force" beneath. How do you not know if you are a veteran or not??? I'm so puzzled by this

Oh and me.

Worst: Fort Leonard Wood
Best: Camp Darby Italy

Maybe ALL the Kansas bases should be lumped together. Spent a good bit of time at Ft. Riley and holy hell it was bad.

Best - Baumholder, Germany

Worst - Baumholder, Germany

It’s a rock in the middle of nowhere, but is very centrally located to lots of interesting places.

Beeville Tx.

When finishing up A-School training, I put anywhere in the free world on my dream sheet. I joined the Navy to get out of Louisiana and "see the world". Half of my class including myself got the dreaded orders to Beeville.
I begged, pleaded, and (almost) threatened to get my arse out of there. I just about had given up all hope and one day got the call to go see the XO (usually not a good thing) and he shook my hand wished me luck and 24 hours later I was on my way to Norfolk and to the best duty squadron on the east coast.

That was 50 years ago and today it is a prison. It was a "prison" back then. All they had to do was add the guard towers and dogs.

I did AIT there and basic at Ft Jackson. For the most part drill sergeants at FJ were tough but not assholes. Leonard Wood drill sergeants were straight up relentless assholes. Plus it was cold and an all around depressing place.

Worst: FSB Charlie-2, northern Quang Tri province, Vietnam or some other nasty hill around there.

Best: Ft. Lewis, near Tacoma, WA.
