Where do the rich folks of New Orleans own camps? Somewhere in Mississippi I assume?

As a Tennessean, I would simply be happy with an open one.

We like Destin. It’s not very expensive and the beaches are still nice. There’s plenty around to see and do.

First went to Miramar (Sandestin) in 1988. It was such an isolated, quaint and quiet little paradise, been going ever since.

The changes since then are hard to fathom. I've been contemplating Pensacola Beach (smaller, not as far), but even that place is starting to build high-rises.

I need to find a new spot.

More houses than buildings and you can cross the bay to Destin is you need anything.

We used to do a family vacation with my in-laws in PCB...but in hindsight that was so trashy. Daytona and Cocoa Beach are great. Daytona has the right mix of places costing enough to keep the trash out but yet affordable for middle class families. If you don't care about the water being only 60°, there's a few Lake Michigan beaches which aren't bad either.

My extended family stayed at The Sanctuary by the Sea for several years until several people in our group got a wicked case of giardia from Redfish Lake.
