For folks wanting to quit smoking

LINK
Youtube video in link from a guy continuing Allen Carr's method of quitting smoking. 2 guys I work with watched video that's a little over an hour and both have been quit for a few months now. One of them was a 2-2.5 pack a day smoker for over 25 years. Another guy watched other day and hasn't smoked in about a week and said he doesn't even want one now.
I quit smoking a few years back on Chantix after many, many failed attempts but wish I would have gone this route instead. I bought Allen Carr's book before I quit but still never read it, I only started reading it months after I actually quit b/c I was having urges still after I was off Chantix. I smoked for about 12 years and last 5 years was 2 packs a day, I dipped for 3 years prior to smoking. Couldn't imagine mornings without cigarettes and coffee, driving to work, after meals, etc without a smoke. Thought my entire personality would change and was scared shitless everytime I tried quitting. After being smoke free I don't have those issues anymore, haven't in years.
Don't give cigarettes credit for easing your withdrawals, give them the blame for starting them to begin with. If nothing else, watch the video when you have time. Hell, smoke a cigarette while watching it. None of us starting smoking thinking we would be addicted down the road. We all thought we would quit. I put it off for years, I couldn't quit b/c vacations and father n law would be there, he is a smoker so I would make that an excuse to quit afterwards. Then well, hunting season coming up, can't quit until after then. It was a big cycle. Now I'm around people all the time who smoke at work and don't think anything of it. The you'll get cancer, losing money, etc means nothing, I know that, b/c you are hooked, and well maybe you won't get cancer or one day you'll quit before you do. I know the feeling, hopefully this video helps and you can order his book online which is supposedly one of the best if not the best out there. Good luck.
TLDR: Watch video, quit smoking
ETA: Also, lol at the people that come on here saying they smoked 4 cigarettes a day for a year and if they can quit anyone can.
Ok, maybe I shouldn't lol at those from statement above. If you quit no matter how much you smoked that's great.

Being called trashy on the OT is enough for anybody to quit smoking

I'm 3 months in right now. Feel great. When I drink outside the house is the hardest. When I'm at the house I never think about it. At the bar I think about it way more.

Only thing was vivid dreams, not nightmares, or anything. Also I had some heartburn from it. That was it.

Thanks man. I wasn't as long as many but a pack a day for 7 years is still tough.

7 years in July using Chantix.

I smoked a 1-1.5 packs a day(2/day on weekends) for 9 years.
I quit cold turkey back in 2005. It was tough. The coughing up gunk for like 2 solid months after you quit, the cravings, reforming habits that don't involve cigarettes, etc. Not easy, but sooo worth it.
Sounds cheesy...but lollipops were my biggest help. I bought bags of dum dums and tootsie pops. Those first few months...anytime I wanted a cigarette(esp when driving)...grab dum dum lollipop. It helped with the oral fixation most have with smoking(and having something to have in your hand).
Good luck
Your health is worth the hard work of quitting.
My aunt died of lung cancer(long time smoker) almost 10 years ago. 2 of her sisters and her widow STILL smoke and I just don't understand it at all.

So you traded cancer for diabetes.
I kid. I'm quitting now and sunflower seeds seem to be working. Still have major cravings though.

Does his method apply to dipping as well?

Whatever works. I also ate a ton of baby carrots whenever I was sitting on the couch watching tv whenever I craved a cigarette break.

Those will get better, just stick to it. If you relapse...don't beat yourself over it too much and say "screw it, I might as well smoke again". Just start over the next day.

Yes, they mention dipping in there also

Thanks, always there for moral sorry. I'll see you in hell.
And who knew nurse was so trashy for so long, that's crazy. Not sure about the lollipop fix though. I'm way too old fashioned and homophobic to put a candy penis in my mouth every ten minutes.

This. It also doesn't help that a lot of my friends smoke. Sunday through Friday evening I almost never think about having a smoke. As soon as I go out for drinks, I want one.

Pack a day for 10+ years here. I am going the vape route. 3 months in.
Saved over $400 so far. Reducing nicotine in the solution by 20% every month starting this month. By the summer I will have no nicotine and then it's just going to be putting it down.

Tomorrow will be 8 months since I've quit. I had a very serious medical event and didn't really have a choice. I have severe anxiety so I take Buspar and Xanax to help with that. I haven't used the Xanax in about 5 months. I still think about it all the time but it gets better/easier as time goes on. I still love the smell of it though which is kind of odd. They say most people hate the smell after they quit. I love to stand next to someone who is smoking. I find it comforting.

This is large factor in the reason I quit back in August. There is also a large social stigma where I live against it and I feel like women don't like it so I just gave it up. First two or three weeks were annoying but after that it's an afterthought unless I am drinking during football games.

Smoked for 15 years
Bought a nicotine doseage controlled vape
Slowly dialed it down to 0mg nicotine per puff.
Nicotine free 22 months now.
Would recommend that way.
