Has anyone been here? Thinking of taking my 3y/o this weekend. Is it worth it or is it depressingly worst than the zoo?

It's pretty cool. I took a 3 yr old and he loved it. Buy a bucket of food, and you load up on a big covered wagon and drive around the refuge. All of the animals come up to the cars to get fed. Zerbras and Giraffes and tons of animals.

Don't buy just one cup for the kid. They throw the whole cup at the water buffalos and then you get screwed buying food on the "train."

If you can afford the big tub buy it and let the kid go wild throwing food at all the animals.

It's worth it IMO, especially for a younger child. The animals actually come up to the wagons and they eat right out of the cup. Pretty cool to see kids interact with them. We usually go every few years. Last time we went we were disappointed that we didn't get to see giraffes though

Yes. I hear you can do the regular train or pay extra for the private jeep tour.

Should I do Jeep tour or don't waste the extra money?

Will do the Jeep tour if I ever go back. The wagon train has too many kids on it.

It's fun, especially for younger kids. I've been on two field trips there. Never been on the Jeep tour, just the wagon train. You ride around the property and the animals will come up to the wagon to get fed.

The only thing I'd worry about is that the roads/trails for the wagons might be a muddy mess with all this rain we've had this week. Might want to call first and make sure it's doable.

Make sure weather cooperates, if it's too cold or too hot it can get pretty miserable. It's probably more age appropriate for a little older kid.

Hold on to your cup! Those animals know what they are doing and they WILL take your cup of food.

Go to the pond and feed the 400lb catfish when you are done.

there are always the kids that throw the entire cup at the first sight of animals. Then turn around and cry because they don't have any more food.
