Florida border shut down @ I10E

Sorry if germans, I searched but didn't see anything.
Anyways, I just drove home from Florida today and couldn't believe what I witnessed. Police, about 45 troopers, have actually shut down the East bound interstate and I've heard they are checking cars one by one. Anyone (except logistics) without a Florida license or proof of home ownership is being turned around.
I couldn't help but laugh to myself at the irony of this whole debacle. These are many of the same people who protested Trump's wall like their life depended on it.

I would just take back roads honestly. There’s so many ducked off highways it’s impossible to shut them all down

Nah Florida went for Trump and so did TX, LA, MS, and AL. Pretty sure most are Trump voters or non voters.

Why post bullshite? They didn’t turn anyone away from a license plate moron or home ownership. They were telling people about the 14 day quarantine.

ok cool, thanks for clearing that up. There were some people being turned around, as we ran into them at the gas station not far down the road. (maybe they saw cops and turned around on their own?)

I certainly don’t think Florida has the right to do this. That said, why the hell are people driving over to Florida right now? I understand if there is a small contingent of people working and traveling to Florida. But how many can’t that be? Seems like most people heading over are doing so for recreational purposes, no?

A state cannot shut down interstate commerce between the states. Whether that be personal (little c) commerce or business (big C) Commerce. It is simply not their job. If the Federal Government wants to seal off a state, they technically have the authority to do it (under the Commerce Clause of the constitution) but they would have to bring in the military or Nat Guard to do it.
