Has anyone lived or visited here? If so, would you recommend it? Thanks

Florence like the rest of the Pee Dee sucks, easily the worst part of the state.

this is a good rule

If there isn’t an old synagogue nearby, it’s probably a shitty town/neighborhood

Have family there. It's the typical small southern town. Not a lot to do, but really nice, friendly people. Quiet and laid back. Church on almost every corner...Protestant that is. Most people have lived there their whole lives so they are nice and polite but like the status quo. It's about an hour to the beaches of Myrtle Beach and to Columbia in the other direction and 2 hours or so from Charleston and can get to Charlotte and Raleigh in 2.5 hours or so..so not too is bad.

My sister lived there when her boys were younger. Typical small town, everyone knows everyone, not much going on other than kids sports. You're not far from Myrtle Beach, can golf nearly year around. Life would be slow there. Depends if you have a family kids or not. Keep in mind that SC schools aren't known to be that great.

I guess it isn't the worst place around the country, but it's "just there".
But, what more does one really have to have? I guess you can say you're an hour plus (depending on traffic on 501) from Myrtle Beach, which offers just about everything year round.
I guess it's also a plus that Florence is at the intersection of two of the main interstates in the country (I-20 and I-95).
