I spent an entire day at Club La Vela in 1998. I don’t remember anything after the wet t shirt contest around lunchtime.

My best memory from post college life was spending Memorial Day weekend in that area.

We stayed at my buddys house. Boated to Pirates Cove. Floated all day. Got loaded on bushwhackers and burgers. Not a care in the god damn world. And went to FloraBama that and just enjoyed living the life. Doing whatever.

Place is magical.

Honestly day drinking at Pirates Cove is one of my most favorite memories ever.

I’ve only been there once that I can recall. I was hanging out on the little area over looking the beach minding my own business when this girl walks up to me saying she doesn’t feel well. I toss her an unopened bottle of water I had and before she can even get it open this big cock diesel son of a bitch pops out of nowhere wanting to know what the frick is going on, what the frick am I doing, blah blah blah. In that instant I’m trying to process where the frick did he come from, is he security or this broad’s crazy arse boyfriend. It was pretty bizarre to say the least. I still don’t have a clue what it was all about.

Essentially need to boat there. When I went granted I was a little buzzed but it seemed more of a damn burger shack on a damn sand bar than anything. Just boat there. Anchor up. Grab a life jacket and float in the water and drink bushwhackers until you get hungry then eat the best damn cheeseburger of your life.

Rumor is this is the place that inspired Buffett to write “cheeseburger in paradise”. But who knows.

It’s amazing for a day drinking fest with friends. Nothing better.

Looks pretty awesome

I plugged it into my map app and some place in pass Christian cane up. I was thinking would’ve been a crazy day going from there to orange beach in one day while drunk
