how do you get diagnosed with sleep apnea? What are signs you may have sleep apnea? I feel like my wife and I have slept badly for years. I try to get at least seven hours a night and I always feel tired in the morning even if I sleep in.

Go to your doctor, tell him your symptoms and ask him to order you a sleep study. I got the in home one where you wear the watch thing and put monitor on your finger while you sleep. All the info is uploaded to the website from an app you have to dl on your phone. Once determined you have apnea, it's sent to your doctor then Dr sends a script to a apap/cpap company, they get with insurance and then send you a machine. They coach you over the phone how to use.

If your tired/sleepy everyday, all day. I can just about guarantee you have apnea. Snoring or if you wake up grasping for air a time or two during the night, thats another symptom. Fatigue is another symptom. Just feeling like your at ground zero and tired of constantly climbing that mental ladder all day so to speak. There are many other symptoms you can read about online. My advice is both of yall go to doctor and talk about it.

Y’all need to look in to Inspire Sleep. Pretty cool alternative to the Bane mask.

Maintain daily compliance and minimize mask leakage by having a good fit. Takes a good 2-3 nights to adjust. Once you’re used to it, you won’t want to sleep without it.

I even take a “cpap nap” on the weekend. Those are the best.

I’m not sure I’m mentally ready for an implant.

Went to sleep doc today for annual. Compliant. 2.9 AHI. I’m 6’1” 250lbs. Even down at 220, my neck only went from 18.5” to 18”. Anatomical issue for me. I’m set at 11, and appear to be dialed in, as I haven’t had any adjustments in a few years.

I use a travel PAP Z1 for biz trips so I don’t have to haul the big daddy around. Use the nose mask with the ramp up.

I’m in BR. I never use humidifier. If I have allergies or congestion, I’ll put eucalyptus and/or peppermint essential oil in the water chamber. Opens it right up.

Last note, I have a SoClean, but the recent recalls seem to be correlating the ozone sanitizer with the foam breakdown in the machine. There’s an in-line filter for sale. I haven’t stopped using the SoClean cause I think it does a great job and better than hand washing gear daily or every other day.

lol, because even at 220, you are 30+ lbs overweight.

6'1 250....jesus christ that is fat as frick. I know cause at one time i had gotten to 245 @ 5'10.

im glad you are getting your sleep issues fixed, now get your weight issues fixed.

some of you guys need to realize though...that most of these issues are caused from being extremely overweight and obese. i mean 6'1 250 is teetering on morbidly obese.

I stand corrected then cause I was referring to a person who may be 275lbs, 300lbs or 350lbs. I dont wanna lose 40lbs, at 200 or 195lbs I was always muscular cause I used to weight train often.. I dont look obese at 220 but I am according to my doctor. Anything else you wanna point out sir?

there it is. the famous i used to weight train oftern (fails to mention 15+ years ago) and that its not the cause of his sleep apnea and he doesnt look obese.

yea my dude, you do look obese at 220...you are just used to seeing people around you in the 275+ range. Both are obese.

not really but you are sure as frick in denial. so are so many in this thread.

btw dont pay any attention to the dude that said he gained 15 lbs after getting the mask. He got fat because he eats way way more than 1500 cals a day like he claims even way more than 2200 that he claims is his high end. at 2200 he is losing weight.

some advice, get to below 15% bodyfat and take the new energy as a way of turning around your health. and start lifing again.

i was a 175-185lbs and lower when I started going thru apnea problems, other reason caused my weight gain. Not concerned at all, cause I've dropped 7lbs already and been back into the gym with the new energy. Your a true legend man, you got it! May I ask your age?

Yeah I can tell you are coming at this topic with tunnel vision. Weight does have significant impact on some with sleep apnea, but temper your always and never. We see plenty of skinny men and women with sleep apnea, and many overweight people without sleep apnea.

39 and i let myself go for a while too and got to 245ish at 5'10. I was fat as frick. at 220 im fat as frick and i have been lifting for a long arse time. Got tired of being tired all the time.

i promise at 185 you still wont be ripped and will prolly only be about 15% bodyfat at absolute best.

and you might be one of the true guys who does have problems at 175-185, but if that is the case you prolly need to see an ent first to see if there is something wrong with the air way and actually treat the problem, not just a symptom.

At age 39 and 182lbs, I was eating nails and shitting tacks. I was in the gym 6 days a week. My 2 mile was about 14 minutes and my max power clean was around 240. I'm an old man now son. This post is exclusive to apnea treatment, not health and physical education.

FYI, several men and women have sleep apnea obstruction and are thin as posts. Kudos to you for losing your weight. Proper cardio respiratory exercise and correct diet aid in weight lose. God bless ya baw

In all seriousness, I understand what your saying. Sometimes it's a hard reality when things start working against you that causes a drop off in health.. I am in the process of getting my gym time in again and its working. I lost my way at some point. Not all of us stay on task all the time like we want to because of many factors. I'll say this , before anyone points the finger in this thread, which wasn't my intention in making this thread tbw, they need to go through severe sleep apnea and the ground zero fatigue it brings and then come back to me and tell me how much your doing to change it without real help . I got help and I'm doing a ton better. Just like diet and exercise is a good thing. Getting a doctor's help is also equally as good. Peace bro.

yea well what happened? and what is old because unless you are 75+ no excuse for letting your self go and becoming a fat arse.

your right but the vast majority are because they are fat, like you.

really glad you still have your obvious amazing brain power

hopefully being fat doesnt take your life prematurely, but if you are truely old...you should look around and realize that yea....i prolly need to get back down to 182.

and all you fat fricks say the same things...i used to lift weights... at your age is was eating nails and spitting tacks, at your age i was throwing up monster weight, im just big boned...im this and im that.....newsflash...you are lazy and fat. Newsflash....there is a reason 70% of people with sleep apnea happen to be obese and close to 90% happen to be overweight.

i have heard stupid shite like your post my whole life....first it was wait until you are 30, then wait until you are 40... "you shouldnt be doing those heavy squats, you wont be able to walk by the time you are 40" now its the whoel "this is 30 memes" from overwieght women posting on facebook. Bottomline is all of that is complete horse shite.

plenty of old people still eating nails and shitting tacks and kicking arse in the weight room and life. Dont make excuses for yourself.
