I am getting very nervous about my naive as frick family from the mid Atlantic visiting for a week next month. They’re gonna want to go party every night and have a blast.
They’re going to have no concept of sensing the atmosphere and knowing where not to go and how to avoid trouble here. They’re basically used to going where they want when they want at all hours of the day and night and never even worrying about this kind of stuff.
I’m going to have to watch them like hawks to make sure nobody wanders off of they don’t decide to go out without me and stumble into something awful.

I would tell them two things...
1) if you want to go on Bourbon Street, DO NOT under any circumstance enter Bourbon from Canal St., go down Royal to Bienville then cut up to Bourbon, or start at Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop and work your way up heading back to Royal at Iberville (but be really observant around the intersection of Bourbon and Iberville)
2) if someone asks you where you got those shoes, just say "right here"

without the high risk of being shot to death.
Again I agree with many of the comments about Nola and high crime, but how many tourist do you all think are getting murdered in Nola?

Suspects arrested in Bourbon Street mass shooting.

NEW ORLEANS - Police arrested two suspects in the investigation of the early morning shooting Sunday that injured five people.
New Orleans Police Department said 22-year-old Markez Jefferson was the shooter who opened fire around 2 a.m. on the corner of Bourbon Street and Orleans Avenue. Surveillance video from a balcony showed people sprinting out of the area when shots were fired.
Jefferson was booked on five counts of attempted second-degree murder. Officers also arrested 20-year-old Nathan Saavedra. He was booked on one count of obstruction of justice.
Officers said they are still looking for Kareem Carter, who is wanted for illegally carrying a firearm as a felon and obstruction of justice.

First block of Bourbon- no surprise there.
That area equals dystopia. I could butt frick a bald eagle while a toddler filmed me and nobody would stop me. Except whoever decided to steal the camera/phone from the toddler.

Bet I can guess which one is Markez and which one is Nathan

It looks like you bumped an earlier "five people shot on Bourbon Street" thread. Sadly, this mistake underscores how many shootings there are on Bourbon Street.
