So, apparently the father's actions are somewhat suspicious. He told police that he and his daughter were simply hanging out at a park drinking beer, which seems odd. He told his daughter earlier in the day to meet him at the park. Then, when ordered to leave, he complies (which seems pretty gutless for a dad). Finally, it took him 20 minutes from the time he left his daughter till when he located a couple of policeman and notified them. This is in NYC. There are phones and people everywhere, yet he didn't call 911. He has no explanation for what he was doing during those 20 minutes. By the time he finally found the two policeman and they returned to the park, the suspects had fled. I think there will be more to come from this.
I have a feeling Dad's in for a rough time for a host of reasons...even if he's 100% free of any actual involvement.

Someone would have been dead before I left my little girl anywhere. Me, them, an innocent bystander, who the frick knows. I need a conceal carry immediately

Glad those gun laws worked in New York.

Good reason for a concealed carry permit.....if you can

Yep. Only legit reason for dad to put up a fight.
Laying on the ground dying from a gunshot wound while watching your daughter get gang raped would be worse than leaving her to find a cop.

Wait I thought guns were illegal in NYC?

She's also gotta live with the fact that her dad left her to five guys to be raped or possibly kidnapped....and then took 20 minutes to get help

This is why I have a concealed license. Turn around and put a new breathing hole in that bastard's head, and tell your daughter to run.

Another report I read was that it happened at 11:15pm. So while I don't blame the dad for the actual rape, I blame him for being an absolute fricktard and put his daughter in danger. You don't hang out at a fricking park in Brooklyn at 11:15 at night. And who does this with their 18 yr old daughter?
This. I'm not hanging out at my private neighborhood park directly behind my house at 11:15 pm. Much less in BROOKLYN NEW YORK. It's tragic, but come on people act like you have some sense.

You meant four Dindus.

Good point.
They would throw the dad in jail if he killed or wounded some of those cockroaches and their families would have sharpton at their houses coaching up their teary eyed tv appearances.

Things like this are why I never leave home without my .44. I took my 7 yr old to the movies Saturday and it was right on my side the whole time. But just being armed is not enough. You've got to be aware of your surroundings. As a father it's your job to protect your family. That means not only are you armed, you're also ready in case that weapon is ever needed.
ETA: Raging pussies can downvote this all they want but what kind of father just sits there oblivious to 5 men approaching him and his daughter in a park? He should have seen these guys coming well before they got remotely close enough to be a threat. Always know your surroundings.

Odds are if you resist, both were going to happen. As cowardice as it seems, the options you have are that your daughter has to deal with a horrific rape and the loss of her father, or a horrific rape.
I feel for these people for being forced into this situation by these animals.

So is rape. Laws don't stop them.

Exactly. And I'd rather face jail time from a gun charge than have my daughter go through being gang raped by five thugs.

This is only true if you don't know they're there until they're right on top of you. Like I said earlier, this guy should have seen these guys coming long before they got there. His failures were multiple
1. Putting his daughter in danger by having her in that park at that hour.
2. Being unready to defend himself and her in case anything did happen while there.
3. Being oblivious to his surroundings and not identifying an easily identifiable threat in time to react.
