Damn, that's a tough situation. You fight, and your daughter might see her father murdered and then raped and maybe worse. But how do you stop the urge to fight for your daughter?

People are sick.

These are situations that no one prepares themselves for. There isn't a lot of time in the moment to think about them. My response would probably be the same as yours. I'm just speculating about what might be the least harm in an already horrible situation.

I'd rather my daughter know that her father loved her so much that he would rather die than see anybody our anything hurt her.

Hmm, that differs from this story.

And still get raped.

But yeah, I can definitely understand fathers who would rather die than see that.

Not to mention if you put up a fight and they shoot you, they would most likely flee without raping daughter due to noise from gun blast.

She was 18. No way in hell I'd leave my daughter there.

This.

But for me, I conceal carry, so it would have at least been a fire fight.

if he hadn't left and gone to get police and they had shot and killed him instead, she may have gotten killed, as well. Think about it

Tragic.

More gun control laws will definitely keep the bad guys from having weapons and doing these things.

I would probably have died in that situation, but I would have died in a gun battle.

What the frick are you talking about? His article is from a more reputable source and gives more details that make the father look worse in the situation.(ETA: all together we still don't and probably won't have enough details to know exactly what happened.) No one said anything about a hoax. That doesn't even make sense. Why are you trying to pick an argument that doesn't exist?

You should actually read the story in the NYT. Not trying to "prove you wrong", calm down.
