And I remember driving without a cell phone, so I may have gotten one when I was 16. I don't remember. But I had to pay for it myself because it wasn't considered some kind of necessity like it is now. Maybe I neglected to pay for more minutes at times and so my phone was useless at times. I don't remember.
I'm just saying we weren't immersed in this culture of needing to be tethered to your phone. I remember how it was without cell phones. I didn't always have one, even if I did get my first one at 16.

I "came of age" around 1990-1998. I consider coming of age to be the ages of around 10-17/18. 10 is around the age when you start dressing yourself and listening to your own music(for me it was more like 8) to 17/18 is when your personality is pretty set and your peers dont influence you anymore(for me it was more like 15/16) and you go to college and start wrecking havoc or if youre like me, go to work and UNO.

I was "Class of 2000". I was supposed to graduate in the year 2000(got GED, brah). Thats not the same as being "in" high school. Thats literally the "cusp" of being "in" high school.

87' here as well and I used to know a lot more phone numbers by memory in the past than I do now.
To this day if I call my parents, I have to pause and think for a second to make sure I'm actually calling my parents and not accidentally punching in my ex's number.

* single mother = low IQ, irresponsible, controlled by emotions, low self-esteem
* multi-racial = rejection of cultural norms
add those up and we find that those who reject (or can't understand) the norms of a society don't do well in it. no sh*t sherlock
