As one, I'd say that as a whole, millenials are shaping up to be pretty useless and not contributing much to society outside social media and entertainment. There is an obsession because millenials are young adults right now, and they are a huge departure from their parents' generation.

Thankfully I was raised old-fashioned, so even though I'm a millennial by age, im not one by action.

Not really. Early 80's are considered a cusp generation or Gen X. People born 1980 to about 1984 remember before computers, before cell phones, before social media, before internet was widespread, etc. Everyone I know that was born in that age range are clearly different than what people describe as millennials. Even my younger brother who was born in 1986 is quite a bit different than most millennials so a lot of it has to do with where you were raised and the type of influences you had(parents, siblings and friends).

I'm 88 and vividly remember life before cellphones and widespread internet. Social media became a big thing in high school, not too long after the internet became widespread and faster to connect.
