Try and get on a Louisiana boat out at Los Suenos. That's what we did and ended up with a pair of sailfish and some tuna.
Like previously stated the 4wheeler rides and waterfall jumps are legit.

I was there last year. Stayed at Los Suenos in the condiminiums on the hill. Did the zip line, rode 4-wheelers in the mountains in Quepos (sp?), went off shore in a boat. (Captain is from Orange Beach, AL... look for Abracadabra in the Los Suenos marina. Captain's name is Rocky. Tell him the guys from Mobile say hello).
Also, we played golf at the Los Suenos golf course.
We went to Jaco, but had wife with me so no Beetle Bar. There was a very cool, casual restaurant on the beach and there are a few cool local shops where you can get some inexpressive local art work.
Jaco's surf is much better than Los Suenos. Especially, if the wind is going to be that strong. Probably very good sufing, but I'd be careful.
There is a restaurant that looks over the mountain just north of Los Suenos that was very cool for an evening drink/dinner. Don't remember the name, but it is probably 3,000 feet in the air and drops straight down to the water.

The resort is nice but I enjoyed getting out. Rent a golf cart and take a right out the main entrance. We spent a couple of nights at Villa Caletas. Take a 10 min cab ride up there for dinner at sunset. Spend a day in Jaco. Fishing (18 sails the first day), 4-wheelers (pick a day with morning rain) zip lines, tortuga are all fun. No kids but went with my wife and had a blast.

Yeah I am way past my whoring days but have buddies that go there and claim to go fishing and do whores the whole week there. They just pay some guys at marina to let them take pictures with fish like they caught them or take one trip
