After a day and a half here, my thoughts are

1. I hate standing in line

2. I love yoga pants

3. This will be my kids' only trip here with me

4. My idea of a vacation involves more rest and relaxation.

.....and you are there for the slowest time of the year, try it in July.
I'm leaving in 16 hours to join you.

I find it more fun if you went as a kid. There are other things to do, but try and enjoy it. The lines are really not that bad. The kids will never ever forget it. I can remember details from my first Disney trip when I was 3 and I'm 33 now.

You sound like a fun dad. Why are you posting on TigerDroppings during a family vacation anyway? Go spend time with your family.

It's all about Fast Pass and those 1st 2 hours in the park each morning. If you don't master those 2 rules, Disney can be a beast of lines and waiting.

I rarely wait in lines but my Disney trips can sometimes be similar to a chase scene in a Jason Bourne movie, only slightly less violent.

No expenses spared. Even with fast pass, it takes a while

I know it's not all about me, my kid looked at me yesterday and said "this is fun and all, but if rather go offshore fishing or yoyo'ing"

Eta. When I say yoyo'ing, I mean the type of fishing.

It's not about you. It's all about your child (children).

Like me, you sound like you don't want to do a lot of planning and are confused about how to make the best of it. Some dude last week posted this as a simple, effective way to save time and increase your enjoyment.

quote:

Visit the park that had extra magic hours the day before and get there at 9AM. The first hour almost everything is a walk on. Spend the morning in a recommended or low crowd park, then hop to a busier park after lunch to see parades, Illuminations, Fantasmic, ec. and when you arrive, you have your three FP+ waiting for us. The key for sure is to make your FP+ in your second park of the day, then if there is a late park open, you hit that one third and do the busiest attraction just before park closing.

I'm sure.

It kind of sounds like you just showed up to Disney without a plan. My wife and I have been in July and had that shite down to a science. We never waited more than 10 minutes for anything and that was with 2 kids in tow.

I just took a look at the wait times on the Disney app. Most things are 20 minutes and under except Test Track, Soarin & Toy Story. WTF are you bitching about??

I'm with you. For what its worth, Discovery Cove (SeaWorld, not Disney) is far superior. My kids loved it and ranked it over Disney.
